Dave Stryker: Eight Track II

Dave Stryker: Eight Track II cover

The 8-track was our first in-car exposure to the personalized listening experience. That endless loop with endless hours of listening pleasure, with the occasional minor annoyance as the tape switched to the next track. The car was littered with those favorite tapes; for every mood, for every pleasure.

I would bet some of you reading this were conceived as the band played on...that favorite 8-track tape.

And the favorite tunes, couldn't live without 'Em, too numerous to list.

Guitarist Dave Stryker has touched that incredible musical nerve once again, with "Eight Track II", his soon to be released follow up to his 2014 hit effort, "Eight Track".

With vibraphonist Steve Nelson, organist Jared Gold and drummer McClenty Hunter, Dave helps us revisit our musical favorites of past, with inventive jazzed up versions of classics from The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Zombies, Cream and Prince....or James Ingram. Even John Barry's "Midnight Cowboy" movie theme.

Give a listen. One or more of these tracks will connect with you again, but this time, jazzed or bluesed like you never imagined.

Dave Stryker has made the once hip hip again. "Eight Track II" comes out September 2.

This band celebrates live at The Falcon in Marlboro, New Jersey on Sunday, September 11.
